Spa Treatments Explained: What to Book for What You Actually Need

Spa menus read like wine lists — impressive and confusing. Our spa director translates the menu into plain English.

Match the treatment to the problem

Forget the menu names for a second — start with what your body needs. Desk-shoulders and stress? Relaxation massage, 60 minutes, $95. A genuine knot or sports soreness? That's remedial — deeper, targeted, sometimes not 'relaxing' while it happens but you walk out different. Dull skin or a big event coming? The signature facial.

The best treatment isn't the most expensive one — it's the one that matches what your body is actually asking for.

What each treatment on our menu actually does

The honest breakdown of the Luna menu:

  • Relaxation massage (60 min, $95) — flowing pressure, nervous system downshift. The classic.
  • Signature facial (75 min, $145) — deep cleanse, massage, LED finish. Book a week before events, not the day before.
  • Lunar Ritual (90 min, $189) — scrub, wrap, massage. The most rebooked treatment we run — it's three treatments in one booking.
  • Couples Retreat (2.5 h, $310) — private thermal hour plus side-by-side massage and wine. For two, obviously.

The thermal suite is the sleeper hit

Every treatment includes 45 minutes in the thermal suite — cedar sauna, eucalyptus steam, magnesium plunge. Arrive early and use it properly: ten minutes sauna, cold rinse, steam, plunge, repeat. It changes how the massage lands. Locals book the cheapest treatment on the menu partly for this access — and honestly, fair enough.

How often should you book?

For maintenance, monthly is the sweet spot our regulars land on. For an actual issue — headaches, back knots, training load — fortnightly remedial for six to eight weeks, then monthly. Any therapist pushing weekly relaxation massage is selling, not treating.
